Our history

"Fonderia di Salerno" is a modern company, equipped with highly qualified facilities. It’s a leading supplier of castings of gray lamellar cast iron and ductile cast iron for several key industries including the machine tools manufacturers.
The foundry was put up by a German and Swiss Group in 1836. It was established in an industrial area, which also included an engineering workshop and a textile industry.
During the First World War (1915-1918) the German Group gave up its shares to the Swiss Group which kept on producing castings.
As in 1935 the machine shop closed down, the Swiss group decided to give up the foundry to the Italian Group.
The foundry took over the corporate name of Fonderie di Salerno S.p.a, licensee of Mechanite Cast Iron.
The company kept on growing, re-investing in equipments and improving the production of high quality castings, which are now proudly supplied across Italy and exported to Europe.

The new seat

The company moved to its new location in 2005, in the industrial area of Salerno, respecting the environmental regulations.
The new plant is equipped with the most modern dust and fumes suppression system approved by a committee of corporate experts on behalf of USL (local health authority).
Specialized technicians periodically maintain the above mentioned installations.
This new production unit is easily reachable because it is only 500 meters away from the motorway exit of the Salerno - Reggio Calabria for an easy supply of raw materials. It has availability of suitable energy, potable water and industrial processed water.
The surface occupied by “Fonderia di Salerno Società Cooperativa” amounts to about 80.000 m2, of which 20.000 m2 are covered by the plant.

New Management

Since December 2014 the foundry is run by members of the Pisano Family, owners of the "Fonderie Pisano", iron casting leading manufacturer in the automotive industry in Italy and in Europe.
Since its establishment , "FONDERIE PISANO" has kept on growing, investing and innovating, resulting in a prominent position in the casting industry.
Fonderie Pisano is one of the oldest and largest foundries in Italy, providing long-lasting products with an exceptional cast metal expertise for more than 130 years.
The members of Pisano Family, who make up the Board of Directors of FONDERIA DI SALERNO”, are putting at the new company’s disposal their wide technical experience and their high level of understanding the markets in which our company operates.
